4 months ago a young girl walked into our office, unable to stand without two hands braced on anything, and had to walk by hanging on to her mother. She had missed 5 months of school, and nobody had been able to figure out why she was so dizzy and off balance.
That day we were able to learn that her brain wasn?t processing her vision properly, preventing the visual information from integrating and being used for her body to understand where she was in her environment.
We set a lofty goal of trying to get her back to school maybe part time by the fall, so she could have some semblance of a normal teenage life. We were cautious even with those expectations. We started her vision therapy, and began to teach her brain how to properly use and integrate her visual information.
Not only is she now back to school full time, but her mom sent a video to the office of her daughter figure skating again (just the basic jumps for now) for the first time since the onset.
It brought the entire office to tears, and made us incredibly thankful for being able to be part of her story. Those are the moments that drive us.
For everyone who works with us, thank you for giving us the opportunity to be part of your story and your success. We couldn?t ask for a better group of people to work with.
