I've been working with Dr. Masata and Dr. Morgan for only a short few weeks and already my quality of life has improved so much. I suffered with vestibular migraines, pain, and debilitating vertigo for years and never knew there was a solution. The team at Opto-Mization gave me my life back! I stumbled on them in a desperate search for answers when I started suddenly experiencing symptoms of BVD. I'd been a confident driver all my life, and suddenly I wasn't. I dreaded getting in the car. Even my short commute to work was insufferable. Grocery shopping became anxiety inducing. I could barely get through the day at my office computer without facial pain and eye strain. Other professionals were pointing to mental health, but I just didn't feel that was the answer. I started my journey with Opto-Mization in February of 2023. In my initial appointment, I finally felt heard and understood. We discussed different options and I never once felt pressured, and that was important to me, especially because I could not go through insurance and paid for everything out of pocket. Dr. Irvine was very flexible with the timeline when I couldn't do vision therapy right away and suggested alternatives for symptom management in the interim. They have a great selection of frames and the fitting process is stress-free. Adjustments are a breeze. They really stand behind their products and processes and have even gone out of their way to try and save me money through warranties during prescription changes. Every time I've gone to my appointments, I'm greeted by name and made to feel like it's genuinely great to see me again. Coming to the end of my vision therapy process, I have seen so many positive changes. Grocery shopping and driving are enjoyable again and I no longer feel anxiety or dread. I can work at my office computer without physical pain. This team truly deserves every 5 star review they've received and I will happily continue to see them for my vision needs even after my vision therapy ends.
Absolutely AMAZED by my experience at the clinic! I walked in as a skeptic and left feeling hopeful and excited to embark on this next chapter with a new outlook on life, not just mentally but physically- pun intended ;) haha! The staff were so attentive, understanding, patient, kind and just an overall pleasure! I laughed and I cried, and I felt reassured and supported that some of my struggles in life may not have been “just me” or fault of my own but a product of an undiagnosed issue. I am relieved and I am SO excited to get my new glasses and to see how great things are going to look up for me moving forward! Thank you guys, you rock!
Monovision can create problems with depth perception as you age, and your regular eye exam doesn't check this. Having a monovision exam and also learning what to look out for as I age (headaches, difficulty driving at night, dizziness) was reassuring.

I recently started seeing the team here with Dr.McCroden and then Dr. Stephanie Black and Dr. Hana Masata for migraine and chiari issues. They have gone above and beyond in providing top notch service and advice to getting me on a new path to healing. I have worked in the optical industry for 20 years and this has been a great new discovery. If you are having Migraine issues i highly recommend going in for a neural eye exam with Dr. McCroden. A big thanks to the dispensers in the optical department for their knowledge and time as well, especially Taylor!
I can’t remember the last time I was this excited about anything. After taking my son in to have his eyes tested by Dr. Cam, we discovered he has issues with depth perception and tracking. My son wasn’t able to properly catch a bean bag thrown at him. He then put the special glasses on and caught every throw, with one hand. He was also able to read better with them. I didn’t know exactly to what extend the glasses were helping with the reading, until I put them on myself. I thought I had mostly outgrown my dyslexia in adulthood. However, now that I’ve experienced reading with the glasses, I’m now painfully aware of the fact my eyes come to an abrupt stop after each word read. With the glasses my eye jumped to the next word, without any effort. It made reading feel natural, less jarring. Even just looking at a page of words felt better. I’m so happy we’ve discovered this. Don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for Cam, Sarah and the amazing team at Opto-mization. From feeling lost in the world after a concussion to 25 weeks later and I’m almost right back to top of my game in day to day life and work life. I’m forever grateful for the work they have done with me!!
Life-changing! In early 2020 I was in a car accident and suffered a concussion. I had a number of symptoms, and they weren't improving with traditional care. Dr. Cam was able to provide me a clear diagnosis and treatment plan which not only helped resolve my symptoms, but has given me tools to continue to improve how my eyes and brain function together. I have always struggled going to the optometrist as I had cataract surgery when I was 20 - I think it a way my eyes never adjusted fully to the artificial lenses. Dr. Cam has been able to explain how the surgery has affected my vision in ways no other optometrist has done. The team at Opto-Mization constantly goes above and beyond and I always feel at home when I'm there. I highly recommend Dr. Cam for anyone needing vision therapy (and for those who don't know they need it yet ;))
Dr. Cam is so compassionate and amazing at diagnosing seniors with a life time of being told there is nothing to help you out there! Finally at 63 yrs old I can read accurately!!! The ADHA is so much better now. Life changing!! All due to Dr. Cam and team.
I am a teacher of violin and piano in Gordon Head. I learned about developmental optometry when taking Rhythmic Movement training integration of infant reflexes. During this course I recognized a need in myself and knowledge of developmental optometry has been a very useful tool assessment of needs of my students. Dr McCrodan resources have successfully optimized vision of myself several of my students, their siblings and even one of the parents, a brilliant civil servant. The staff have have training activities suitable for every age.
Dr Cam and his team provide wonderful support for those who have suffered concussion injury as well as learning challenges such as dyslexia.
